Legal Counsel in Côte d’Ivoire, Daye Kaba is the founding partner of Tilan Law Group. For over 25 years, he has advised companies, financial institutions, and investors on mergers and acquisitions, private equity and complex financing transactions. His approach combines international standards with a deep understanding of economic contexts and local regulatory frameworks within the OHADA region and across other African and international markets.
Recognised as one of leading mining law specialists, he has built an international sectorial expertise advising on high-profile transactions in more than a dozen African countries including Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, Mali, Guinea, Niger, the DRC, Senegal, and Madagascar.
Daye began his career in the Paris office of the US law firm Coudert Brothers before joining the Toronto office of Fasken Martineau LLP where he was promoted partner. He later became a partner at McCarthy Tétrault LLP in the firm’s Global Mining and Energy group. In 2022, he returned to Côte d’Ivoire to join the Abidjan office of the pan-African firm Asafo & Co as a partner.
He also published several articles on key topics such as state participation in the mining sector, taxation and financing of extractive projects, legal issues relating to mining conventions, joint venture agreements, and regulatory regimes in Francophone Africa.
